Sculpting a Bust
A bust is a sculpted or cast representation of the upper part of the human figure, depicting a person's head and neck, as well as a variable portion of the chest and shoulders. The piece is normally supported by a plinth (Ancient Greek word for brick). These forms recreate the likeness of an individual. These may be of any medium used for sculpture, such as marble, bronze, terracotta or wood
For this project you will be sculpting a head. You will focus on the form and not so much on the expression. Study the form of a classmate's head to understand what areas are raised higher than others. Measure features against one another, example how far are the ears from the nose. what is the relationship between the far ends of the eyes to the ends of the lips.
