Jomon Jars
After being introduced to Jomon pottery, you will create a Jomon
Jar of your own. You will use the same coil-building techniques used during the Jomon period. Look at examples of Jomon jars to generate ideas. It does not have to be a replica, however, there are some guidelines I'd like you to follow to fully appreciate Jomon pottery. 1. You will coil build your jar to a minimum of 12" high. The shape is up to you. 2. You will have to incorporate some of the styles used during this period: decorative top trim, cord look, carved design, etc. Remember they were big fans of symmetry 3. You must finish all sketches required before receiving clay |
