Creating a Mug using the Slab building Technique
For this project, you will be creating a mug using the slab-building technique. Your mug will be an abstract design and must include two different types of texture. You will use found objects to create a unique texture or pattern. Your mug must have a handle. This can be either pulled or slab-built. Remember to consider the design and feel of your mug when creating your handle. Ask yourself if this handle fits the overall design/theme of the mug. You wouldn't want to put a chunky handle on a delicate mug. Your mug does not have to be a standard cylinder shape. Be creative! Look at other types of slab-built mugs to generate ideas. You must complete 2 sketches of 2 totally different-looking mugs. When you are finished with the sketches, have them checked off by Ms.C before starting. Keep your sketches because you must hand them in with your mug to earn points.
Good luck and have fun! |
